The IGAD Foreign Service Institute (IGAD FSI) is an IGAD directorate based in Djibouti. The Institute was established following the decision of the Summit of the heads of State and Government held in Addis Ababa on November 29th, 2019. The Institute’s member states are Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Uganda. Peace, security and sustainable development through the promotion of regional cooperation and integration are at the very heart of IGAD. The grand aim of the institution is to become a regional ’Centre of Excellence’ that provides diplomatic training and research.
About the IFSI Website, the platform and the Hub
The aspirations of the website, hub and the platform are to support IGAD FSI by showcasing its activities, building trust and establishing credibility within its Member states.
The hub will focus on areas that will support availing training resources for diplomats and civil servants from IGAD Member States, aimed at dealing with issues related to regional integration and diplomacy. The built training hub will also offer services to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and post-graduate students within the region.
The institute intends to use the IFSI platform as a key communication and delivery channel between IFSI and members of the Association of IGAD Diplomatic Training and Research Institutions, to set off ongoing dialogue that will build capacity for negotiation skills embedded on regional, continental and global issues.
The platform will harbour strategic activities with quality knowledge for member states to convene, reflect, consensus and in solidarity agree on issues impacting and affecting the region. The training resources will be of diverse disciplines that provide strong support associated with regional integration objectives.
